Magnificent Hummingbird, adult male
Eugenes fulgens
This is the largest hummingbird found in southeast Arizona, and is nearly twice the size of other hummingbirds in the area. It has a long dark bill, a white triangular post-ocular patch, and an apple-green gorget that shows only in the right illumination. During springtime migration, its range usually extends only into the "sky island" mountains of southeast Arizona. On a feeder, it is visibly larger than other hummingbirds.
