Midcoast Audubon Society

from "Carousel", by Rogers and Hammerstein:

This was a real nice clambake,
We're mighty glad we came.
The vittles we et
Were good, you bet,
The company was the same.
Our hearts are warm, our bellies are full,
And we are feeling prime.
This was a real nice clambake,
And we all had a real good time.
The first step is to get some dry wood in a shallow pit of stones.Second step is to have someone bring some fire. Now, carefully light the fire. Don't let the wind blow out the tiny kindling fire.Wow! We've got a fire going!See! I told you we could get this fire started, first time! See!!Now get a long stick to help get the fire going even more.We need some seaweed. Where can we get seaweed? Two barrels of seaweed. Now put some charcoal briquets on the fire to help even it out.Now bring down a tote full of lobsters. Now we need a couple of big iron squares to serve as a stove.Put the shallow iron stove sheets over the fire. Now get some seaweed for the first layer.Throw some seaweed on the hot iron stove plates.More seaweed!Even more seaweed!Even out the seaweed as the base layer.Need a little more seawater to make enough steam.Good. We've got some steam building up, baby!Checking the base layer of steaming seaweed.
