Royal Tern

Royal Tern

This Royal Tern was cruising around looking for fish near Blind Pass Beach, Sanibel, Florida. Royals are larger than Common and Arctic Terns, and are distinguished by a bright yellow bill and swept-back ("duck tails") crown feathers, not seen in flight. I rendered this image to suggest a B&W ink sketch, but kept the yellowish bill.
