Violet-crowned Hummingbird

Violet-crowned Hummingbird

Amazilia violiceps

Patagonia, Arizona, Paton House. A large long-bodied hummingbird with a snow-white chest, blue-violet crown (male) and bright red bill with dark tip. The Paton House is one of the very few places in southeast Arizona to reliably view the Violet-crowned Hummingbird, which is principally a bird of southwest Mexico which extends its range slightly into very southern Arizona.
