This breeding plumage Great Egret was in my viewfinder, April 2010 in St. Augustine, Florida. The photograph was selected as the winning submission in the 2011 Ultimate Nature Photo Award contest, sponsored by Audubon Guides and Green Mountain Digital. It won first place out of 932 photos submitted. At the time, I was fortunate to have just the right combination of a displaying Great Egret and a shaft of light illuminating the bird.
