Zonotrichia albicollis

Stebbins Nature Sanctuary, Longmeadow, Massachusetts

Usually found at woodland edges, this bird has a striped head, yellow lores and a white throat patch that contrasts strongly with gray chest. Its song is an easily recognized "Old Sam Peabody, Peabody, Peabody" or "Oh, Sweet, Canada, Canada, Canada" heard primarily from mid-spring through mid-summer. At the feeder, this bird loves black oil sunflower seed and millet.
